Travis Barker whose real name is Travis Landon Barker is a musician who does genres such as pop punk, rap rock, hip hop, punk rock, skate punk, alternative rock and ska punk, and he has been in the music industry for more than 28 years.
The musician who is also a drummer first married actress Shanna Moakler in 2004 and they divorced after fours years of marriage. Moakler and Barker have two children – boy and girl – together namely; Landon Asher Barker, 18 years old rapper and singer, and 15 years old Alabama Luella Barker, a model.
Barker have a great fear for flying in airplanes, He made jokes about it and the time. In September 2008, hours after making another joke about his fear for flying, he, together with his crew boarded an aircraft to fly to Van Nuys in California after performing in Columbia, South Carolina. Just as the plane was on the runway and about to take off, the front tire blew off in a situation which forced the pilot to abort taking off. The plane crashed into the airport’s fence wall leading to the death of both the pilot and the co-pilot.
Barker spent more than 11 weeks in hospitals and burn centers. He had 16 surgeries: blood transfusions that lasted 4–8 hours and numerous skin grafts. “There were times when they were talking about amputating my foot because I didn’t have enough skin on my body for my grafts,” he said. Barker also developed post-traumatic stress disorder, made worse by the intense guilt he felt knowing Still wasn’t supposed to be on the plane. During his time in the hospital, Barker was in so much pain that he was calling friends, offering them $1 million to help him end his life.
He stopped his vegetarian diet and began eating meat to increase his protein intake and possibly speed up healing of his burns. Barker recovered from the incident, enabling him to return to the recording studio in November 2008.
