Ghanaian journalist Manasseh Awuni Azure has said religious bodies like the Christian Council and Catholic Bishops have not demonstrated maturity and wisdom.
His comment comes after authorities of Wesley Girls senior high school prevented Muslim students of the school from Ramadan fast which is observed by Muslims worldwide.
The Methodist Church which originally founded the school, even though it is now government-funded, has back the authorities to defy a directive by the Ghana Education Service to allow Muslim students to fast during Ramadan.
They say the decision not to allow students to fast is a long-standing tradition of the school, a move which attracts national attention.
According to the investigative journalist, decisions made by the Christian Council to support the ” No fasting policy” in the school is lack of maturity and ad wisdom on their side.
“Christian Council of Ghana and Catholic Bishops’ Conference, you have not demonstrated maturity and wisdom in this matter.”, he says.
